Georgia Hardy

Bachelor of Exercise Physiology and Rehabilitation. Bachelor of Exercise Science (2016).

I am a Clinical Exercise Physiologist and Director at Habitual Health Collective in New Farm, also offering Telehealth and home visits. My ethos is to provide support to my clients by developing new and healthy habits to enable them to manage their individual medical conditions in the best way possible.

I believe that exercise can be a gateway to new beginnings in regards to a person’s physical and mental state. I listen to your body and understand your limits, further employing exercise as a medical therapy for the treatment of chronic diseases across all disease stages; prevention, acute therapy, and on-going management.

My interest for EP evolved after personally experiencing poor treatment to my own medical injuries. It was only until I participated in exercise therapy where I understood the true benefits, unlocking my passion and drive to help others myself.

What is Exercise Physiology ?

What is Exercise Physiology?

The aim of exercise physiology is to prevent or manage acute, subacute or chronic disease or injury, and assist in restoring optimal physical function, health or wellness.

Exercise physiologists complete a 4-year bachelor degree and are accredited with Exercise & Sports Science Australia (ESSA).

Exercise physiologists have an in-depth knowledge of the human body and the benefits that exercise can provide, both mentally and physically. They have the ability to prescribe a range of exercises tailored to each individual based on their health condition and goals. Georgia’s main methods of exercise therapy include:

  • Strength-based exercises (body weight, resistance bands, free weights and machine weights)
  • Clinical pilates (Reformer and mat work)
  • Functional movement and postural strength training
  • Gait and running biomechanic assessments and training
  • Home and online exercise programming

GEORGIA’S PROCESS

1. EVALUATE & EDUCATE

Let’s evaluate your medical history, physical and mental limitations, and barriers to exercise. Educate on the benefits of exercise therapy and set client centred goals to tailor exercise therapy.

2. ASSESS

Measurements based on your functional capacity and goal orientation to determine baseline capacity and for future comparison.

3. DESIGN & DIRECT

We will create a home and/or clinic based exercise program specific to your goals and current capacity and provide professional direction. We will give you verbal and tactile cues to enable appropriate muscle activation and alignment

4. REVIEW & REPEAT

Review goals, assessments and programming. Repeat process with the goal of self-management.
